 | The Aurora Comet Center is a recreation and wellness facility located in the primarily rural community of 194 people. |
 | 7 years ago the dream developed of building a fitness facility using private funding. Over the next 6 years the group raised over $550,000 in private donations, pledges and grants. The Center has received grants from Vision Iowa CAT program, RJ McElroy Foundation, USDA, Rural Development, R .Carver Trust, and Monsanto. Our grants have totaled $237,000, private donations from families of $291,000 and contributions from businesses of $40,500. In August of 2006 the Center opened it doors and the remaining building debt of $13,070 and that was paid off in July of 2008. |
 | The building houses an AAU sized gym with a walking area around the perimeter. The weight room offers a treadmill, elliptical machine, exercise bikes, a five station brute force machine, various free weights and specific miscellaneous training equipment. |
